Victor Anku-Tsede

Victor Anku-Tsede is a Barrister at law and a Solicitor by profession having obtained his post degree professional qualifications at the Ghana School of Law. Victor is a leading lawyer with over 30 years of experience.  He has been associated with some of the highest profile corporate transactions in Ghana involving international acquisitions, cross-border mergers, and stock exchange listings for major international companies and financial institutions.

He has over the years obtained considerable experience in all fields of corporate and commercial practice, both in the international arena and in Ghana. He has been intimately involved in major international transactions including cross border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, natural resources, finance transactions, public offerings and listings, financial institutions and organizations investing and operating in Ghana.

Victor has played a lead role in advising on the legal aspects of several debt and equity financing arrangements, project financing, taxation, stock and asset purchases and securitizations, minerals and mining transactions.

He is very well positioned and experienced in working with relevant regulatory and governmental bodies. He was for several years an Adjunct Professor of business law at the Ashesi University, in Ghana.

As a former Senior Partner at JLD & MB he was responsible for the management and administration of the firm. This role involved drawing up of annual budgets, leading on the recruitment of staff, overseeing the implementation of time management schedules, payroll administration, human resource management, billing and invoicing, training, purchasing and supply, coordinating the preparation and submission of tenders and bids as well as being the representative of the firm in dealing with clients and the general public. He also headed the litigation and tax departments of the firm and was responsible for managing the Firm’s international relations with foreign law firms.

In addition to the above, he was privileged to work as a legal officer with the then Ghana Internal Revenue Service (now Ghana Revenue Authority) where he led in the prosecution of cases against tax defaulters. He was at one time an Associate at the law firm Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah (then Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah and Mate)

He has also worked with Scotcall Limited, a debt recovery company in the United Kingdom where as part of his duties he regularly appeared before magistrates in the prosecution and recovery of monies owed to various electricity and gas service providers in the United Kingdom. He has also worked with npower is one of Britain’s leading energy companies, which is part of the Innogy group, one of Europe’s leading electricity and gas companies.

Victor is a member of the Ghana Bar and holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, QCL from the Ghana School of Law and an LLM in International Business Law from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom.
